Technology in heritage interpretation is undoubtedly one of Sydney’s most complex and thought-provoking issues. At this forum, industry experts look at the way new media can improve the interpretation of heritage sites. Future opportunities for emerging artists and designers in this field will also be addressed.

Looking at their most significant projects, the experts discuss new media and the relevant roles of artist and designers. Access to inaccessible areas and the most effective and popular new media technologies will also be explored.

Chaired by ABC Innovation’s Chris Winter, speakers include Historic Houses Trust’s Dr. Caroline Butler-Bowdon, Museum Victoria’s Tim Hart, UTS Creative Industries Innovation Centre’s Sarah Barns, Museum of Australian Democracy’s Kate Armstrong, d/Lux/MediaArts’ Neil Jenkins and Professor Ross Harley of Media Arts at the UNSW College of Fine Arts School of Media Arts. Run by the Historic Houses Trust, the forum comes under the NEW IDEAS banner, which stands for NEw Ways of Interpretation to DEvelop AccesS.
