Some people look at old computers and see surpassed technology destined for the scrapheap. Liesl Hazelton looks at old computers and sees raw materials for her award-winning jewellery and furniture. Her collection of rings, bracelets and brooches created from computer cabling, wires and stainless steel mesh, along with her sofa of woven cables, took out the 2009 Design NSW: Travelling Scholarship. This enabled her to visit Guatemala where she was involved with local artisans and their communities.

For Sydney Design, Liesl will create an installation that explores traditional craft skills and textile techniques.
