Look to the future at this thought-provoking event with a selection of stories displayed by people from all walks of life. Diverse opinions come from visionary experts, the public and community groups, all gathered by the Live Futures 2020 project.
Scientists, futurists, engineers, social innovators, architects, artists and technologists have all taken part – popping up in unexpected ways. See a short documentary focusing on these experts’ opinions, revealing how they are embracing and designing the future. Meanwhile, the public have participated by telling stories of the future of design, all collected and displayed online – through YouTube and Facebook – or at vox-pop booths.
A community-based project has also taken place with interactive pieces (video, audio, text, photostories, collages) popping up in public spaces, such as shopfronts and large city spaces around Sydney. These video art pieces reveal the view of future and design by community members.
As a culmination, the Live Futures 2020 festival takes place on 14 August, with a major exhibition at the College of Fine Arts (UNSW). Live action is uploaded in real time, with commentaries from both design students and artists on display.
