The mythic stories of Ovid’s The Metamorphoses are a song to transformation and change. This exhibition represents the 15 books that make up the narrative as 15 superbly crafted architectural models. These large physical installations interpret Ovid’s tales of change in three dimensions. Master of Architecture students have used rich materials – ceramics, timber, metal and fabrics – and transformed them using mechanical or industrial processes. This is architecture like you have never seen it before – raw, vital and brutal. The works are installed in sequence with little explanation in order to engage the imagination of the viewer. There is, however, a well-illustrated exhibition catalogue in which the pieces are discussed and reviewed.
