
Capturing fashion and Australian life in the swinging 1960s, David Mist has been a leader of contemporary photography in Australia in the 20th century. Born and trained in London, he arrived in Sydney in 1961 with a passion for bringing his cosmopolitan outlook to a more conservative nation.
At this talk, David reveals the style and flavour of life in Sydney in this era with a selection of mod fashion images. He depicts his early days as an apprentice at Baron Studios in London and his fashion shoots during the 1960s and beyond. During this talk, David relates stories of his memorable assignments in outback and tropical Australia, as well as destinations from around the globe.
Following the talk, David will give a tour of the Creating the look exhibition from a photographer’s perspective (Limited numbers, booked guests only).
