Here’s an opportunity to leave your mark on Sydney Design 2011. Visitors can participate in a dynamic workshop led by UK-based artist Shane Waltener, and add your own personal touch to the giant knitted and looped installation in the Turbine Hall. Using yarn and string, knitted and knotted together visitors get to immerse themselves in a growing lace sculpture as well as experience the value of making collaborative art.
UK-based artist Shane Waltener talks about his installation in the Turbine Hall at the Powerhouse Museum. Using yarn and string, knitted and knotted together visitors to ‘Knitted and Looped’ get to immerse themselves in a growing lace sculpture as well as experience the value of making collaborative art. Waltener also reflects on his exhibition piece installed in the Museum’s stairwell as part of the’ Love Lace’ exhibition.
Here Shane talks about his installation and Museum visitor Jan Philips tells the story of immersing herself in the growing lace sculpture and the value of making collaborative art.
Sydney Design events will be filmed by Powerhouse Museum staff and the content will be used by the Museum for promotion and this includes uploading into Powerhouse Museum accounts across a variety of third party platforms. If you do not wish to be filmed please inform the photographer/videographer at the time of the event.
