Join a selection of international and interstate artists represented in the Love Lace exhibition, as they bring to light issues arising from the creative brief, broadening the definition of lace to an ‘openwork structure whose pattern of spaces is as important as the solid areas’. Be inspired by insights into vastly different artistic practices.
This one day symposium is an opportunity for practitioners and interested members of the public to discuss how lace created with non-textile materials challenges the very essence of lace.
134 artists using over 100 different materials and more than 60 different techniques: the unusually broad exhibition brief of the Love Lace exhibition and competition was deliberately conceived to attract practitioners from diverse creative disciplines, working with a wide range of materials.
A detailed schedule of the Symposium including a synopsis of each artist’s talk is now available as a PDF (1MB)
