Daily Designer, 12.00pm (free with Museum admission): Eckhard Kemmerer and Paula Rogers.
Paula Rogers, Managing Director The Fair-trading Company, is a strong advocate of improved working conditions for overseas workers in developing countries. She has 25 years experience in international trade of consumer goods, servicing the USA, Europe and Australia markets. While worked in Hong Kong (1995 to 2003), Rogers managed the social compliance of 6,000 factories in over 80 countries worldwide, for some of the world’s largest international retailers. She sits on the Executive Board of the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand (FTAANZ).
Eckhard Kemmerer is a scientist and marketing executive with 20 years’ management experience in consumer and business products and services. He now runs the innovation consultancy, Apogee International, and has developed his LifeArt Enviroboard coffins. Manufactured using fibres recovered from recycled cardboard boxes and sugarcane waste, the coffins use cornstarch glue to make them strong and lightweight. “By using less material to make our product,” explains Kemmerer, “we have set the benchmark for emissions from cremations.”
