MORE ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Michael Fitzsimons is managing director of Instyle, which specialises in the design, marketing and distribution of commercial interior furnishing textiles. By sourcing raw materials and throughout the entire production process, Instyle is able to create sustainable textiles that respects animal welfare, human health and the environment. Its benchmark textile collection is LIFE (Low Impact For the Environment) Textiles in collaboration with The Woolmark Company. In 2008, Instyle won three awards at the NSW Government’s Sustainability Green Globes Awards.

Paul McGillick, who has a PhD and a Master of Architecture degree, has published extensively on the arts, design and architecture. Since 2002, he has been editorial director of Indesign Publishing where he is also editor of Indesign and Habitus magazines. Prior to this, McGillick was editor of Monument magazine in 1996-97 and 1998-2002. He was also producer/presenter of SBS-TV’s Imagine, and then worked as a freelance writer/producer for ABC-TV’s The Arts Show.

Fergus Scott, who graduated as an architect in 1991, first worked with Stutchbury & Pape Architecture on various projects, including the RAIA award-winning Olympic archery pavilion at Homebush. In 2000, he set up Fergus Scott Architects, and has won the RAIA 2003 joint Wilkinson Award for the Toumbaal Plains House in NSW.

John Eussen has been a leader in the textiles and interiors industry for more than 20 years, specialising in sustainable and environmentally friendly decor. He worked in high-profile management roles before leaving the corporate world to pursue his penchant for interiors. His passion for a sustainable future has since led him into a raft of inspired roles, from being an Al Gore Ambassador for the Climate Change Project to working as a consultant for global sustainability conferences.
