ELECTRONIC MEDIA ARTS WORKSHOP

A hands-on four-hour hour workshop to provide the tools to engage in the creative uses of electronic media as well as its application in commercial interaction design. Work with locative media and microprocessor boards to create a performance, interactive installation or media game. The aim is to create electronic media works at the boundaries of technological and artistic experimentation. The electronic media arts is an art practice that is both about creating expressive forms through technology, but also the critical interrogation of the aesthetic potential and material forces of the technology. Participants will work with various hardware and learn programming within a visual context to create a performance, interactive installation, or audio installation. The aim is to create electronic media works at the boundaries of technological and artistic experimentation. Design works will be documented for participants. The workshop will be facilitated by academic staff from the University of Sydney’s electronic media arts and interaction design department.
