Led by the Builders Labourers Federation (BLF), the Green Bans halted massive commercial building development in Woolloomooloo in the 1970s. Now the Green Bans Art Walk is a multi-venue walking tour exploring and celebrating the history and impact of these bans in the Woolloomooloo area. The weekend comprises of three parts: an introductory exhibition at Cross Art Projects in Kings Cross, a guided walk through Woolloomooloo, and a presentation at Firstdraft Depot, the home of Big Fag Press, as part of the Weekend At Firstdraft Depot program. The Big Fag Press is a rescued printing press, salvaged from its way to landfill by a group of artists in 2005. The machine is on display and the printers will answer questions about the process.
